Lady Colin Campbell Victorian Sex Goddess

This book tells the story of one of the most brilliant women of the Victorian age, and perhaps the single most notorious figure of that period. Lady Colin Campbell (1858-1911) was an excellent writer, singer, painter, fencer, swimmer, angler, cyclist, and equestrienne.

She was also a person whom a major newspaper called a lady with utter contempt for the commonest laws of decency - with a diseased passion for every man she came in contact with the unbridled lust of a Messalina and the indelicate readiness of a common harlot? Her notoriety was gained from her role as the central figure in the longest, most sensational divorce trial in British history.

Lady Colin charged that her husband, the fifth son of the Duke of Argyll, had committed adultery with a housemaid. He in turn accused her of having had adulterous relationships with four men: a famous general, a distinguished surgeon, the chief of.London's fire department, and the Duke of Marlborough. The result was Campbell v. Campbell, which for eighteen days in November and December of 1886 held a nation spellbound.
